April’s First Friday festivities, scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday in downtown Los Altos, will include an Ultimate Frisbee demonstration courtesy of the San Jose Spiders.
The pro Ultimate Frisbee team’s home field since 2014 has been at Foothill College. The Spiders are two-time national champions.
Team members will showcase their skills at Veterans Community Plaza, corner of Main and State streets. They will fling First Friday Frisbees into the crowd and hand out opening-day tickets for their April 20 game. The Spiders’ opening-day tickets also will be available at all downtown stores with open doors.
First Friday visitors can browse and shop at more than 60 stores and galleries, many of which offer discounts as well as complimentary refreshments. Local bands will perform at various downtown locations, children’s activities are set for the “Kids Corner” at Veterans Community Plaza and receptions are scheduled at local art galleries.
First Friday is a monthly promotional event sponsored by the nonprofit Los Altos Forward, a program of Los Altos Community Foundation. Los Altos Forward is a volunteer group dedicated to promoting vibrancy in downtown Los Altos. First Fridays are designed to provide fun, social and community-building evenings for local residents.
