First Friday supporters don a variety of hats to promote Friday’s downtown event.
This month’s First Friday festivities are scheduled 6-9 p.m. Friday on the Downtown Green on Third Street between Main and State streets in Los Altos.
With the theme “Hats Off to Los Altos,” attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite hats and join in the group of “Mad Hatters.”
Friday’s activities coincide with the start of the Los Altos Village Association-sponsored Summer Sidewalk Sale, running through Aug. 11.
A First Friday photo booth will be available for free pictures and a selection of hats donated by Tenth Street Hats. Prizes will be awarded to every creative Mad Hatter.
Live entertainment will include Sunday Seven performing in front of Le Boulanger, Norm Kahan at the Los Altos Tasting Room, Eurotrash in front of Chase Bank, House Band at Enchanté Boutique Hotel, Shallow and Pedantic at Veterans Community Plaza, Fully Funded on the Downtown Green, Silverado at the Assistance League, Mary Gospe in front of Nature Gallery, Mollie and Scott in front of Linden Tree Books and In The Pocket in front of BK Collections.
Stores and art galleries will extend their hours for evening shopping, sales, promotions and receptions. A Kids Corner and hat-making activity are scheduled at Veterans Community Plaza, and the pop-up Club 55 on the Downtown Green.
First Fridays are monthly promotional events sponsored by the nonprofit Los Altos Forward, a Los Altos Community Foundation program. Los Altos Forward is a volunteer group dedicated to promoting vibrancy in downtown Los Altos.
