The San Juan Sensations, pictured here in their First Friday hats, are set to do some “Dancing in the Streets” Friday evening.

This month’s First Friday festivities – with the theme “Dancing in the Streets” – are scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday in downtown Los Altos.

The evening will feature a performance by the San Juan Sensations dance troupe from the San Juan School of Dance in Los Altos at Veterans Community Plaza, located at the intersection of Main and State streets.

The 13-piece band, Big Mike and the HartBeats, is also set to perform at the plaza and a host of other musicians at various storefronts up and down Main and State streets.

Another highlight – requiring audience participation – is the First Friday Conga Line, slated to begin at 7 p.m. at the plaza.

“Wind your way around our downtown while kicking up your heels,” said First Friday organizer Jamie Lucia. “Make sure to gather family and friends to join in the line.”

During First Friday, stores and art galleries will extend their hours for evening shopping, sales, promotions, and receptions. A Kids Corner at Veterans Community Plaza will feature cutouts for photos, games, crafts, hula-hoops, and more. Club 55 is slated on the back patio of the Assistance League at 169 State St.

First Fridays are monthly promotional events sponsored by the nonprofit Los Altos Forward, a Los Altos Community Foundation program. Los Altos Forward is a volunteer group dedicated to promoting vibrancy in downtown Los Altos.
